Interview with Armitage on US torture
A short video of an interview of former US deputy secretary of state Richard Armitage, conducted by Avi Lewis. Armitage admits that the Bush administration’s use of waterboarding is torture, though he insists he knew nothing about this when he was in office.
Juan Cole does an excellent job of providing background for this interview, on his blog, Informed Comment.
From Cole’s post: “Armitage was one of three officials, including Karl Rove and Irv Lewis Libby, who revealed to US reporters that Valerie Plame was a covert operative in the CIA… Armitage was also involved in the Iran-Contra scandal.”
